About the Founder

Mr. Vuma Mfeka is known across the country and continent from his school days mainly in sport and football in particular. As a football legend and well respected goalkeeper, he played in the highest leagues and for professional football clubs like Wanderers F.C. and Amazulu F.C. during his prime years.

He is a passionate sportsman with infectious positive energy and is often the 1stport of call for youth development initiatives, soccer academies or soccer development initiatives in schools; his in-depth knowledge on football has made him to be regularly contacted by media & soccer journalists for comments.  He is actively involved in grooming young soccer players through various collaborations in SA and abroad, in 2001 he was instrumental in taking a team of 20 learners from various schools in Durban to England to play a friendly match Leeds FC development team where they met Lucas Radebe who was the captain. He has consistently worked with soccer legends to ensure their contribution in soccer development is recognized and is often at hand to facilitate their celebrations and assists even when some are being laid to rest.

He enjoyed a long and successful career as an educator who had 20 years experience within the Dept. of Education. He served as a principal for various schools but made a remarkable mark as a Principal of Umgaga High School, he  is still considered to be one of the best Principals in South Africa. He believes that “every child has a capacity to learn”, and welcomed all students even those with less than desirable marks. During his tenure he was in charge of 75 teachers and increased the matric pass rate from 5% to a consistent 100% pass rate over years with an estimated 450 matric students p/a. His school was awarded the “Best Matric School” for leading in Umlazi South for 3 consecutive years; they also excelled in sports and music. He was selected by TOPS (Teachers Opportunity Program) to be amongst the top 20 school principals in SA to study for a Master’s Program in School Leadership and Management at the University of Carolina (US) & Durban Westville. On the 15th June 2022 he was honoured by his ex-students and ex-teachers at a Gala Dinner at Durban ICC for being a Change Maker and for shaping the lives of many young people who are leading purposeful lives today.
